5 Dos and 5 Don’ts If You’re New to Vaping
While it’s been around in various forms for a long time, vaping as it is practiced today is a recent phenomenon. As a result, most people have little idea about the dos and don’ts of vaping. That’s where we come in. In this article, the team at the #1 smoke shop in Parker cover 5 do’s and 5 don’ts of vaping to help the newbie get off on the right foot.
5 Vaping “Dos”
1: Do remember to clean your vaping device
If you want to ensure that your vaping experience is always first class you need to get in the habit, right from the start, of cleaning your device on a regular basis. Residue accumulates inside the tank of your device and if you don’t clean it out regularly it will negatively affect the quality of your vaping experience. As a general rule, it’s recommended you clean the tank every time you change the e-liquid.
2: Do try different flavours
There are literally thousands of different e-liquids out there today so there’s no reason to stick with the first one you ever tried. Experiment. Try different flavours. Chances are you’ll find several to your liking and you can switch back and forth among them. Changing flavors will also help fend off the dreaded “vaper’s tongue” when your tastebuds shut down for a period of time.
3: Do take your time
Chain vaping can be tempting but it can undermine your enjoyment and cause damage to your device. The right approach is to relax and take your time. The minimum time it takes for a wick to resaturate is 15 – 30 seconds. But even then there’s no need to rush things. Practice taking your time. Savor each hit. Enjoy the moment. Relax.
4: Do remember to wean yourself off of nicotine
Vaping has helped lots of people in Parker quit smoking but some are never able to get over the final hurdle and free themselves from the coffin nails. It’s not the fault of their vaping device. Rather, it’s usually a matter of not weaning themselves off of nicotine properly. They start with high-level nicotine e-juice and never transition to lower and lower levels. After a while, they get discouraged because they don’t feel like they’re making any progress and they go back to smoking.
5: Do store your e-liquids properly
Most e-liquids have a fairly long shelf life, but they’re not indestructible. If you leave them exposed to direct sunlight or in a blazing hot area they’re going to go bad pretty quick. If you want them to last and retain their flavor make sure you store them in a cool place away from exposure to direct sunlight.
5 Vaping Don’ts
Into every life a little rain must fall. With that in mind let’s run through some generally accepted vaping “don’ts”.
1: Don’t vape without asking first
If you’re in your own place then feel free to vape as you please. But if you’re at a friend’s house or at a party at a stranger’s place don’t vape without asking first if it’s cool to do so. The same goes for eating or drinking establishments. Not everyone’s as chill as the folks at the vape shop.
2: Don’t chain vape
If you are vaping to quit smoking don’t substitute chain vaping for chain-smoking. Not only will the practice put stress on your coils and shorten the life of your vaping device, you’re also likely to get dry hits that can irritate your throat and leave a skanky taste in your mouth. At some point in the process of quitting smoking, you’re going to have to accept that you don’t smoke anymore. Taking your time between vapes is a good way to start ratcheting back the addictive behavior.
3: Don’t forget the water
People who vape a lot often end up with dry mouth and vaper’s tongue. Vaper’s tongue is where a person loses the ability to taste their vape juice. The condition almost always comes on without warning and lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Vaper’s tongue is a result of the propylene glycol in e-liquids that is known to absorb water molecules. You can increase your odds of avoiding it by staying properly hydrated.
4: Don’t make assumptions
Most of us know that vaping is nowhere near the kind of threat cigarette smoke is, but it can be hard to convince others of that. If you’re in a place where smoking is not allowed don’t just assume vaping is. Also, while the friendly confines of a smoke shop may allow vaping other establishments, even those with smoking rooms, may not. So don’t treat every establishment like a vape shop. Ask before you vape.
5: Don’t overcharge your device
If you plug your device in to recharge it and then turn in for the night, you could wind up ruining your battery and shortening the life of the device. If you must plug in before you go to sleep, spend a few bucks and get yourself an overcharge protector, or buy a vape kit that comes with an overcharge protector. If you really want to make life easy for yourself, pick up a fast-charging vaping device. There are quite a few out there and they’ll charge from dead to full in just a couple of hours.
